Companions in the Sun

This card immediately reminds me of the Elton John song Grey Seal which has a haunting chorus that I used to like when I was a teenager.

THREE OF SEA (Three of Cups)

Isn’t this a different take on the card? You hardly expect cats to lie in the sun on rocks with seals, but it’s a sunny day and those rocks are lovely and warm. All kinds of creatures enjoy that.

True friends and the companionable silence of real.

  1. As a fan of EJ in my younger days, I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this song!
I’m ready for a patch of warm sunlight myself. We had two days of warm temperatures but will be back to freezing this weekend. The cats have spent the spring-like days lying on the screened back porch but are quite miffed now to be hugging the floor vents again. 🙂

    • Did you ever read the Robert Heinlein book “The Door into Summer”? It features a cat–one of his nicer books, very sweet.

Anyway, the cat would go to the door and find that it was snowing and blowing and get alarmed. He’d been thinking it was the door into summer. Quite poignant, a metaphor for human something or other.
